Junior Golf Registration Ready To Go!

Meet “Golfito”, the Mattawa Area Youth Golf Association’s logo and mascot. “Golfito” represents positive attitude, fun and sportsmanship. “Golfito” is on par for another great summer on the greens and along with the Mattawa Area Youth Golf Association (MAYGA) is ready to accept registrations. MAYGA is based on the belief that golf is fun, healthy, and has “a unique ability to instill and nurture essential values, such as honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, and a solid work ethic in young people who are introduced to the game.

This year’s MAYGA format has changed to better suit different age groups. There will be three separate sessions to allow the program to be more specific in the area of golf introduction and golf coaching depending on the age and experience of the participants.

Starting this year, registration for the Mattawa Area Youth Golf Association will be done online via the internet. MAYGA volunteers will be available at the John Dixon Public Library to show parents and our young golfers how to register on line and how to access golf information, quizzes, newsletters and statistics on line. Anyone without internet access is invited to use the library’s many computers with free internet use. Ask the librarians how to book your computer time. Computer help is available to everyone at the library. Applications will be taken on a first come first served basis and should the limit be exceeded, your child/youth will be placed on a waiting list. We are committed to ensuring your child/youth has an excellent summer program. On behalf of Mattawa area children and youth, the MAYGA looks forward to an exciting and fun-filled golfing summer in partnership with the Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort, Golf Pro Glen Cundari and sponsoring partners.

Registration begins Wednesday, May 21st, 6 – 8 pm; Thursday, May 22nd, 6 – 8 pm; and Registration Saturday, May 24th, 1 – 3 p.m. at the John Dixon Public Library. Please remember that only completed registration forms will be accepted accompanied with full payment. Only 90 juniors will be accepted, however a waiting list will be kept. The payment required at registration is $25.00. The weekly fee is $3.00 for 8 weeks. It includes transportation, equipment, lessons, healthy snacks and fun. There will be a “Meet & Greet Information Session” at the Golf Course on Sunday, June 1st from 12:30 pm for parents and registered junior golfers.
